perhaps you all knew about a year and a half ago.

they have, in fact, been so searched that random people's weblog post's about them come up on google.

i however, have just. now. today. found out about owen & mzee. owen was a baby hippo who lost his mother in a tsunami in 2004, was rescued and taken to haller park in mombasa. there, he adopted mzee (mm-ZAY) (not to be a cheese, but i had no idea how to say it until ::i:: saw a pronunciation guide), a 130 year old aladabran tortoise as his "mother." ::usually:: mzee didn't want to hang out with anyone ... but he started teaching owen all sorts of cool things, and still a year and a half later, they hang out together all the time!
